Picea abies 'Pumila'

Dwarf Norway Spruce

An attractive, globe-shaped evergreen shrub. The new growth emerges light green in spring, turning a nice dark green the rest of the year, even through the winter.

Its spreading habit makes it useful as an informal hedge or accent plant in the landscape.

Provides cover for birds.

  • Dwarf evergreen shrub
  • Very slow growing, about 2″ per year
  • Very hardy and cold tolerant
  • Drought tolerant

The Dwarf Norway Spruce is a very compact form of the versatile and hardy Norway Spruce tree.

Growing Tips:

This shrub does not like wet feet.  In fact, once the shrub is established, it is very drought tolerant.

The Dwarf Norway Spruce grows so slowly that most homeowners don’t usually do any pruning, though pruning can be done if necessary.  The shrub could eventually be larger than the size listed here but takes a very long time.
