Ajuga is one of the best known and most useful ground covers, suiting many different situations and color schemes.  Plants spread by runners and soon create a thick ground cover carpet of foliage.  Tri-colored foliage in shades of white, burgundy, and green, provides interest even when the plants are not blooming.  Short spikes of blue flowers appear in spring.
