Growing Tips:
- Blueberries need acidic soil to help them process iron. Use ammonium fertilizers regularly to achieve a lower pH. Planting near established pines will give the soil an acidic boost, and encouraging the growth of grasses nearby will help break down iron into a form your blueberries can utilize.
- Blueberries also need well draining soil, so adding compost is a must! Try to avoid letting the soil swing between moisture extremes. Blueberries use a lot of water during fruit set, so keep a close eye on their moisture levels at that time.
- Most blueberries require pollination by a second variety with an overlapping bloom time. Plant them at least 3-4 ft apart to allow for ample growing room and air circulation.
