Viburnum dilatatum

Cardinal Candy Viburnum

A special plant with improved hardiness and abundant, persistent shiny scarlet red fruit.  Tons of creamy white flowers cover this well branched, rounded plant in May.  Fruiting appears strong even without a pollinator.  May be easily maintained at a lower height with pruning.

  • Abundant, persistent scarlet red fruit
  • White spring flowers
  • Attractive fall color
  • Durable

Discovered in a batch of seed grown plants after a -30 degree cold spell killed off all the other viburnums.

Growing Tips:

Prefers moist, slightly acidic soil.

Can be pruned after flowering, but this will cause lack of berries.

Does not need a pollinator, unlike a few other varieties of Viburnum.
