Kohlrabi
Kohlrabi prefers to grow in cooler temperatures, along with other cole crops. Harvest the bulbs when they are about the size of an apple. Bulbs are eaten like broccoli can be boiled, stir-fried or eaten raw.
The varieties we grow are:
- Purple Splendor – Globe-shaped bulbs reach 4 to 6 inches in diameter and are purple-skinned with white flesh. High yielding plants. 50 days to maturity.
- Vienna White – Apple-sized bulbs are best harvested at 2 inches in diameter and have creamy white flesh. 55 days to maturity.
Plants are available for purchase at Longfellow’s:
March 1 – April 15 for spring crops
August 1 – 31 for fall crops
