Growing Tips:

Planting Rhubarb – “I can never get rhubarb to grow!”  Rhubarb requires excellent drainage, which is a challenge in our heavy, clay-like soils here in Missouri.

We recommend that well-rotted manure and/or compost be added to the soil, then shape into a mound. Plant at the top of the mound, then create a well around the crown to make watering easier and apply mulch to reduce moisture loss.

Plant in full sun, on an east-facing slope.  Space plants about every 3′.

Use mild or organic fertilizers with rhubarb.
